The Fortress Louisbourg is a living ,working town from the 17th century. They have a bakery,eatery,blacksmith shop,stables and gardens. There is also a native display, as the french befriended the native people with trade and knowledge for furs and food. On your way back, you will drive along the Mira River, cottage country, great for all types of water sports. The river consists of half salt water and half fresh water. You will pass over Marion Bridge, famous for its song, and a gathering place for concerts and family gatherings. Then you will drive through Membertou First Nation reservation, voted the #1 reservation in Canada for years in a row. Known for its social and economic developments as the Mi"kmaq comminity .
