Kayak for 1.5 hour at Long Lake Provincial Park. Long Lake is the centrepiece of Long Lake Provincial Park, a 5000+ acre wilderness oasis that borders on the edge of Halifax’s urban core, only a ten-minute drive from downtown Halifax, and central to the entire city. Long Lake was the City of Halifax’s principal water supply from the mid-1800’s to the 1970’s and a result it has always been protected from adjacent development that could negatively affect its water quality. The result is a 3 km+ long lake on the edge of the city with absolutely pristine water and an uninterrupted, unaltered natural shoreline. Long Lake is a great place to spend several hours of a day traversing the lake and exploring the many inlets, two islands and the old dam that created the lake’s current shape two centuries ago.

We had a great time and cant wait to go back! The staff are all super kind, the lake is stunning, the kayaks were easy to use - was a great summer day! I took my 6 year old daughter on an adult single kayak was soo fun! Then after we paddled back we stayed and swam off the rocks right beside the rental stand... the water is really clear and super warm! A perfect day - many thanks Long Lake Adventure Co!

If you like the outdoors, this is a great spot - and this company is the best. You can book online, sign the waiver, show up and go. All equipment is good and cleaned between clients so I felt totally comfortable. I did kayaking and SUP - loved both. If this weather keeps up, I will be back as much as I can.

Summer 2019 was my first ever time in a kayak , extremely nervous I had the best time! Unfortunately was only able to make it out once so this year I had been waiting for the go ahead . Saturday my boyfriend and I went out for our first kayak of the season, and can't wait to go back ! The girls are incredibly helpful and friendly

This place is absolutely beautiful! The lake is perfect, the young ladies that are running this business are so lovely and wonderful to deal with, the price is right, etc!! I go here multiple times a week for either kayaking or stand up paddle boarding and have never once had a bad experience. I bring people with me to see how lovely and serene it is, I often go solo because it is so peaceful... and I ALWAYS recommend this place to everyone!! Get out there and enjoy it!!!

We rented 3 adult single kayaks for an hour and had a blast paddling around the well marked open water swimming course - 2500m around Goat Island. It's totally flexible to go for as long or short as you wish. Life jackets, paddles and sit on top kayaks are all in excellent condition. We had not booked ahead but had no problem getting boats and a parking space for our 9:30am start. The process to get out on the water was super efficient. I really appreciated being able to keep my phone and car keys in the office/hut. The girls working there are extremely pleasant and professional. Can't wait to try SUP next time...
